About CAPSAC

Who We Are

CAPSAC is the California chapter of APSAC, a non-profit, leading national organization founded in 1986, which supports professionals engaged in all aspects of service to maltreated children and their families.

What We Do

CAPSAC aims to:

  • Improve standards for the prevention, identification, intervention and treatment of abused & neglected children, their families, adults abused as children, and offending individuals
  • Provide forums for the exchange of information among professionals working in the child abuse & neglect field
  • Promote research on the problem of child abuse & neglect
  • Encourage and promote multidisciplinary education and collaboration
  • Serve as a representational forum within which the needs and concerns of child abuse professionals can be articulated at the state and national level
  • Promote the effectiveness and wellbeing of child abuse professionals

How We Do It

As a multidisciplinary group of professionals, APSAC/CAPSAC achieves its purpose in a number of ways; most notably through expert training and educational activities, policy leadership and collaboration, and consultation that emphasize theoretically sound, evidence-based principles and practices.
