For decades, Dr. Lombardo has advanced the rights and dignity of children through groundbreaking research, advocacy, and education. His work has shaped international, best practices in child protection, particularly through his leadership in promoting No Hit Zones and efforts to eliminate corporal punishment.

A Professor Emeritus at Old Dominion University, Dr. Lombardo’s scholarship on children’s human rights, dignity, and nonviolence has influenced policy and practice worldwide. On a side note, he was one of my undergraduate professors.

He has worked closely with organizations like the Future Leaders Initiative in Sierra Leone, empowering communities to challenge harmful norms and foster safer environments for children and families.

His unwavering commitment to prevention, collaboration, and education has inspired change at the grassroots and global levels, making him a true champion for children and an exemplary recipient of the APSAC Prevention Award.
