Advancement of Cultural Competency in Child Maltreatment Prevention and Intervention Award

A nationally recognized child welfare advocate, consultant, and author, Amnoni Myers has dedicated her life to advancing equity, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practices in child welfare. Born a ward of the state and having aged out of foster care, Amnoni transformed her lived experience into a powerful force for systems change, bringing both professional expertise and personal insight to the work.

Amnoni has served in critical policy and advocacy roles, including with the U.S. Children’s Bureau, the White House Domestic Policy Council, and on Capitol Hill, where her recommendations helped shape draft legislation aimed at improving the child welfare system. Her work has consistently centered on racial equity and cultural responsiveness, calling attention to the disproportionate impact of child maltreatment on Black and Latinx children.

As the author of the acclaimed book You Are The Prize, Amnoni uses her voice to inspire change, challenge systemic inequities, and promote culturally responsive, trauma-informed care for children and families. Through public speaking, training, and policy advocacy, she has catalyzed meaningful conversations that advance the core values of inclusion and justice within child maltreatment prevention and intervention.
