Child Maltreatment (CM) is the official journal of The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children
(APSAC) and is one of the premier outlets for research on child maltreatment research. CM receives 200+ submissions each year and is published quarterly. With an impact factor of 2.9, CM was ranked 2nd in the area of Social Work and 5th in the area of Family Studies in 2019.
Statistical methods have become increasingly sophisticated, and it is important to have a member of our team with advanced statistical knowledge who can assist in reviewing lesser known or more recently developed statistical tests. Statistical reviews typically contain methodological and statistical questions that should be addressed by the author. APSAC is seeking to contract with a Statistical Associate Editor (SAE) for CM. This SAE will focus on methodological issues and statistical analyses of papers submitted to CM and in peer review.
The duties of the Statistical Associate Editor are as follows:
- Work with the Editor in Chief (EIC), Guest Editors, and Associate Editors (AEs) to process submissions through the peer review process. SAE will be assigned papers by the EIC and AEs for review focusing on the manuscript’s methodology and statistical analyses.
- The SAE can expect to be assigned 20-30 papers per year for methodological and statistical review.
- SAEs are expected to ensure that their review process is conducted in a professional and timely manner.
The terms of service for the SAE will be two years initially.
Qualifications
Candidate should have a strong national scholarly reputation in research methodologies, statistics and some area of child maltreatment. Candidates should have a strong background in quantitative research methodologies pertinent to aspects of research and practice in child maltreatment as well as understanding of diverse qualitative methodologies. Ideal candidates will have a history of publishing in and reviewing for Child Maltreatment. Candidates must possess a high level of organizational skills, a professional and collegial working style and be deadline and task-focused.
Support
APSAC will provide a nominal annual stipend to the SAE for their services. CM is supported by an Editorial Assistant who works 5- 10 hours per week under the direction of the EIC. The Editorial Assistant manages the incoming manuscripts and routine communications with authors.
