This morning, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a long-awaited statement calling for an end to corporal punishment. APSAC believes that hitting children is one of the leading precursors to physical and psychological maltreatment, and strongly supports the statement by the AAP. We urge all APSAC members and any professional who works to support the health and wellbeing of children to integrate this message into your practice.
